DARK GAIA'S PROFILE

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.

I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

@arcaneelf: A little from column A, a little from column B... Seriously though, I'm having it beta tested at the moment and reworking the bugs that have been reported, so it's very nearly ready :)

@Bladezuez: Thanks, and enjoy! The new build is coming soon, so keep your save file so you can continue on!

It's 'cause I've increased the saturation in some of the RTP tiles. Not sure why, but I've been doing that a lot lately -- I'm trying to distinguish it a little from the standard RTP that Legionwood 1 used.

@Adon237: Well, it's probably not as obligatory as sewer dungeons, but all good RPGs have a desert sequence somewhere (and a forest one, and usually a mountain/canyon one as well) I try my best to check off all the old cliches ;)

@Dyhalto: Resemblance to any other map is strictly coincidental :)

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

Thanks! I'm trying my best to bring the next build to you soon! :)

Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords

There's a video walkthrough in the Media tab. Though perhaps adding a minimap might be a good idea too.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

Hi Zephiur,

Not sure what I'll be doing after Legionwood 2, to be honest. I have plans for a new RPG, but not sure if I'll actually do it or not.

Thanks for playing :)

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

No, you haven't missed it. I'm being extremely slow and lazy with development :p

I only have a little more to do, hoping for a release at the end of May.

Class System

Hard to put a release estimate on it, really. It was meant to be out in the end of March, and now April's almost over. It's literally 99% complete and just needs some extra tweaking and polishing (and a few of the cutscenes need to be written) but my uni professors keep heaping assignments on me which isn't leaving any time at all to get these things done. So, at the moment, I'm not going to give a date, but to make up for the long wait, I'm adding in a few bits of extra content here and there.

EDIT: I think you'll like the next city. The next chunk of the game centers around adventuring in a desert environment.

Class System

Ah yes, that bug. It's in the current Beta because the Seraph is programmed to have an item that doesn't actually exist -- so a crash occurs. I've fixed it for Beta 4, though it took a long time to iron out.

As for morality, there's no way to actually see what your morality is as such, aside from vaguely gauging it based on how people react to you. I figure it's more surprising and interesting when unexpected consequences occur. I may implement a system that'll allow you to view it in the next Beta, though I actually prefer if the player doesn't know for sure, because then some people will actually strategise playthroughs based on their morality score, and I don't want morality to be treated like a game mechanic.

Chapter One: Emergent Enemies walkthrough

I'm sorry Anunitu, but I don't actually make these walkthrough videos. They're uploaded by a fan, so I can't speak for how he captured them. However, when I have to capture footage for making trailers, I use Camtasia Studio and encode the video in Sony Vegas.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm

Thanks for your comments Anunitu. I know many people liked how the battles played out in Legionwood 1 and how the character customization was neccesary to adapt to the battles, and I'm trying my best to implement this style of play into Legionwood 2 as well. Hopefully a bit better executed this time, however.

Also, I'm glad the idea of the morality system intrigues you. It doesn't come into play so much in the beta version you are playing now, but starting from the next release which I'm working on, it begins to impact the story, influencing which characters survive until the end, and what the ending will be.
